Get Involved

I have had the privilege of being associated with Parramatta Mission for some time now as their official patron and I can honestly say that it is truly a wonderful organisation. Their dedication to the often endless task of caring for those less fortunate in our society is inspirational.

These days we don't have to look far to find someone in need and I'm sorry to say most of us simply choose to look away. It is through the efforts of organisations like Parramatta Mission, providing services such as Meals Plus, Hope Hostel, Thelma Brown Cottage, Koompartoo and Lifeline, that these people are assured of compassion and a helping hand.

I am honoured to be involved and hope that my contribution has, in some small way, helped to make a difference.

Invitation to be Involved

Each year it seems we become increasingly busy as we focus on raising the necessary funds to ensure that the vital services of Parramatta Mission are maintained and the growing needs of the community are met. Of course major events, such as Parramatta's Biggest Charity Auction which is held at the end of the financial year, are always a major contributor. But more is always needed.

Through our Corporate Citizen Program, we give businesses the chance to stand tall in their community. Membership demonstrates their willingness to take an active role in the ongoing welfare of the region in which they operate. Being a Corporate Citizen, building trust, engaging with and supporting the community, adds tangible value to their bottom line. Corporate Citizens are acknowledged at Parramatta Mission's major events and enjoy many networking opportunities.

The Supporters Club gives employees an opportunity to pledge a regular donation which is automatically deducted from their salary. Again this has proven to be a successful way in which businesses demonstrate their community spirit and through this scheme they involve their employees in the project as well - team work at its best!

Of course money is always needed but just as important is the valuable time our volunteers put in. Just one example is the Community Visitors Scheme where elderly people in nursing homes receive regular visits from a smiling volunteer. Interaction with others is vitally important to everybody's wellbeing.

We need as much support as you can give us, it may be time or money or non perishable goods (always in need to meet the needs of people who find themselves in crisis). But whatever the contribution your active involvement in making this a better community for all of us is appreciated. I urge you to contact us now and discover how your support will help transform the lives of people facing crisis.
