Parramatta Mission is part of the Uniting Church and has been serving the Parramatta community and Sydney's west for over 30 years.

Today, Parramatta Mission has an annual turnover of $7,500,000, employs in the order of 120 people and delivers a range of innovative care, counselling and accommodation programs to the marginalised in the community.

Parramatta Mission has recently acquired a 24/7 residential program for high needs adolescents with the emphasis on drug and alcohol dependencies. We will be looking for candidates to fill the following positions. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to support and promote the mission and values of the Uniting Church and Parramatta Mission.

Essential
- Experience working with young people aged between 14-18
- Experience working with substance abusers
- Demonstrated knowledge of homelessness issues
- Proven ability to work with challenging behaviours.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft suite of programs
- Able to work as part of a team
- Able to work evenings/nights and weekends
- Current First aid Certificate
- Current drivers license

Family & Carer Consultant Position |

An opportunity exists to join a dynamic mental health
non-government organisation based in Western Sydney. A casual
Family and Carer Consultant position has been created to draw
upon the lived experience and knowledge of a family member/carer
of someone with a mental illness. This position would be on a
casual, sessional basis and as required by program management.
It is essential that applicants can demonstrate:
- Knowledge of issues faced by families and carers of those with mental
illness
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills
- Willingness to bring new
ideas to the table to improve the service responsiveness and inclusiveness of
the Family and Carer Mental Health Program
- Willingness to undertake professional development as required and identified
by program management, to ensure the Consultant is able to fulfil position
expectations to the best of their ability.

The Parramatta Leisure Club provides recreational, leisure and
vocational activities for consumers living with a mental illness
across the Western Sydney region, and has a membership of over
400 consumers. The Parramatta Leisure Club is a service of
Uniting Care Mental Health; an expanding NGO providing community
based mental health and counselling services across Western
Sydney, Northern Sydney and the Central Coast. This current role
is based in Parramatta. The service integrates with a range of
other community mental health and counselling services provided
by Uniting Care Mental Health, and is seeking a tertiary trained
health professional for the role, with experience in service
provision in the community, preferably with consumers living
with a mental illness and managing a small team.

Mental Health Support Worker in the Personal Helpers and
Mentors (PHAMS) Program |

The Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHAMS) Program provides
practical support to people experiencing mental illness who live
in the community. The program requires motivated staff to
facilitate an expansion. There are several roles to be filled
based in Parramatta. The PHAMS Program is a service of Uniting
Care Mental Health; an expanding NGO providing community based
mental health and counselling services across Western Sydney,
Northern Sydney and the Central Coast. The role requires people
interested in working with people experiencing mental illness,
working under a recovery model. UCMH has a fantastic work
culture and provides many opportunities for professional
development. A Cert IV in Community Welfare or similar, or
experience in mental health would be an advantage but is not
essential.

Mental Health Specific Families and
Carers Support Worker |

Enhance your career development in this dynamic position with
the newly developed Family and Carers Mental Health Program. Two
positions exist to join this recently established team in
developing and providing individual support to carers from a
diverse range of backgrounds, including the provision of support
and information to carers, referral to appropriate services and
provision of advocacy. You will also develop and nurture
effective partnerships with families and carers, consumers,
Sydney West Area Health Service and NGOs that support families
and carers of people with a mental illness. One position is 38
hours per week and the other is 32 hours per week.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum qualification Certificate IV in Community Services (or
similar)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary
team
- Experience in providing support to vulnerable populations in the
community
- Demonstrated ability to work under a recovery philosophy
- Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs
- Current drivers license
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in mental health
- Experience working with families and/or carers
- Understanding of and/or experience using counselling skills
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse
populations
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
communities
